Precautions for the use of geomagnetic modules

Geomagnetic module is an intelligent sensor that determines the presence of vehicles by detecting changes in the earth's magnetic field, and is widely used in scenarios such as intelligent parking, entrance/exit gates, and parking space guidance. Correct installation and use is the key to ensure detection accuracy and stability.

I. Installation location selection

  • Avoid ferromagnetic objectsGeomagnetic modules should be kept away from ferrous manhole covers, steel-dense areas, and large metal equipment at a recommended distance of ≥1 metre.
  • Avoiding magnetic interference: Keep away from high-voltage cables, transformers, motors and other strong electromagnetic equipment.
  • Driveway centre mounting: mounted centrally in the direction of the width of the carriageway to ensure that changes in the magnetic field are most noticeable as vehicles pass by
  • Avoiding tyre tracks: Try to avoid installing in the position where tyres are repeatedly crushed to prolong service life

II. Installation depth requirements

  • standard depth: Top of the module is 3-5 cm above the ground to ensure detection sensitivity
  • secure: Fixed with epoxy resin or special adhesive to prevent loosening or displacement
  • Horizontal mounting: The module needs to be kept horizontal, tilting will affect the accuracy of the magnetic field detection.

III. Recommendations for parameter setting

  • sensitivity level: Adjusted to the site environment, generally recommended mid-range (little environmental interference) or high-grade (large vehicle detection)
  • detection time: The delay time of the output signal after the vehicle enters the detection area, generally set to 0.5-1 seconds.
  • Existence time: After the vehicle has left, the signal is held for a period of time, normally set at 0.5-1 seconds.
  • automatic calibration: Environmental magnetic field calibration is required after installation to eliminate static interference in the periphery

IV. Points for routine maintenance

  • regular inspection: It is recommended to check the status of the module every 3 months to confirm that the indicator lights are normal
  • Clean surfaces: Clean the surface of the module of iron filings, dust and other debris, to avoid affecting the magnetic field detection
  • Battery Replacement: Wireless geomagnetic modules need to be concerned about the battery level, the typical life expectancy is 3-5 years.
  • communications test: Regularly test for proper communication with the receiver

V. Common Troubleshooting

fault phenomenonPossible causescure
Vehicles without signal.Low sensitivity/installed too deep/battery drainedIncrease sensitivity/adjust depth/replace batteries
No car with signalMagnetic field interference/high sensitivityRecalibrate/reduce sensitivity
signal instabilityLoose module/communication interferenceCheck fixed/adjusted communication frequency
High detection delayImproper parameter settingAdjustment of the detection time parameter

VI. Recommendations for selection

  • Indoor car park: Standard sensitivity, battery-powered or ground-sensing powered
  • Outdoor gate: High sensitivity, IP67 rating recommended.
  • Heavy vehicle access: Selection of wide detection range, high immunity models
  • cold area: Pay attention to the operating temperature range and select low temperature resistant models (below -30°C).
